How Cohort 1 is structured

Sessions are held Fridays at 2:00 PM EDT. Session links are provided to approved participants.

  1. Week 1

    Networking fundamentals

    Find professionals, write effective outreach messages, and set up informational interviews. Includes a guest speaker.

  2. Week 2

    Building a strong resume

    Practice resume formatting and explain experiences and accomplishments. Includes a guest speaker.

  3. Week 3

    Unlocking opportunities

    Learn about research opportunities, references, letters of recommendation, and other ways to build experience. Includes a guest speaker.

  4. Week 4

    Graduation & next steps

    Reflect, ask questions, plan your next actions, and celebrate completion with certificates.

Certificate of Completion

Earn it by doing the work.

Students who attend all four sessions, participate actively, and complete the networking challenge by reaching out to professionals receive a digital Open Seas Networking Certificate of Completion.

Outstanding graduates may be invited to join the Advisory Committee and help shape future cohorts.
